Is it possible to get contact lens for a high prescription (severe myopia)?

I have a prescription of -7.25 for both eyes and I"m wondering if such a high prescription is available in contact lens? What’s the highest prescription contacts can go up to?

This is an easy power to put in contact lenses. If your glasses power is -7.25 sphere in both eyes, most people will find the vision is better in contact lenses than in glasses. Also, the contact powers will probably be -6.50. This is due to the optics of contact lenses versus glasses.


Contact lenses can be custom made into very large powers, even over -20 diopters!

    I don’t know the maximum but yes high prescription is available. You should consider looking at possible lazer eye surgery.

    regular stock usually goes up to -9.00 and some brands -12.00

    i have a high prescription of +6.00 in my left eye and +5.00 in my right in my contact lenses and my eye doctor told me that +6.00 is the highest they go but because you’re short sighted, they may be able to go higher

    Hi, our daughter has similar prescription to you and wears contacts very successfully. Such joys after the thick lenses she needed in glasses made getting fashionable ones really expensive!
    Did marvels for her confidence too.

    Yes you can, I’m -9.50 and I’ve been wearing contact lenses for 21 years. I have RGPs (Rigid Gas Permeable) ones as that’s what I’ve always worn and I get on okay with them, but soft lenses are way more popular these days. Not sure what the highest prescription you can get is though.

    Yes! I have a -18.5 and I gave been wearing contacts for 25 years.
